George Gemelas

George Gemelas is the Executive Vice President and COO of Climate Solutions Action.

George hails from Indiana, where he is a founding member of Hoosiers for Carbon Dividends—an in-state coalition of business, political, and other leaders. The group works in support of bipartisan climate action and the carbon dividends solution.

George previously helped establish and lead Students for Carbon Dividends (S4CD). Co-founded by more than 100 leading campus organizations from across the country (including 50+ conservative groups and 50+ liberal and environmental groups), S4CD marked the first time a bipartisan student coalition has ever united around a national US climate solution. Its work has garnered national press attention, including in The New York Times, TIME, The Atlantic, Fox News, CNBC, and The Washington Post.

In 2019, he was part of the organizing team for the “Economists Statement on Carbon Dividends,” which appeared as an editorial in the Wall Street Journal. Signed by more than 3,500 US economists, including 28 Nobel laureates, it is the largest statement of economists in the history of the profession.

He holds a masters degree in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Environment. Before that he studied at Yale College, where he majored in Ethics, Politics, and Economics.
